Belated Christmas Gifts

This year, my sister Melissa, her roommate Autumn, and myself all agreed to a handmade gift exchange.  True to form, none of us had our projects finished in time.  We finally exchanged when I went to visit them earlier this week.  So now I can finally post what I made them.

First is Autumn's:

I crocheted an infinity scarf using red and white wool yarn.  It's worked up in strips and then braided together.

This is Melissa's:

It's a hand embroidered full bib apron.  She's a fantastic baker and a fan of RuPaul's Drag Race.  Her kitchenaid is named after one of the queen's from the show Delta Work.  So I embroidered a RuPaul quote on it along with her blue kitchenaid.

November 30

The blanket.

October 26

Feeling very tired today.  I decided to stay on the couch and crochet.  I'm starting to feel like I'm never going to finish this blanket.

October 22

I'm sad because my sister went back home today.  Did a little crocheting, but not much.

October 9

I've used up another skein of yarn.    I've said it before and I'll say it again, blankets take so long to work up.

September 27

I actually added two full rows to this tonight.  Not that it looks like it honestly.  I do like how it's sort of self striping though.

I love crocheting, but sometimes it's frustrating how slowly pieces work up.  This is looking beautiful, but coming along so slowly.

July 19

Added another 2 rows.  It seriously feels like I'm not getting anywhere.  I know it's getting there slowly.

June 30

Added another row to this one.  The real significance of this is that this means I've officially been doing this for six months.  I'm not quite sure how half a tear has passed but here we are.  I'm glad I have taken this project on, even if there are days that I really don't feel like being creative, I'm always glad I did something in the end.

June 10

Another row added.  I like the aesthetic of how this is crocheting up, but the yarn itself is disappointing me.  It's a single ply acrylic and this is the second time it has just pulled apart, leaving me with two pieces.  Disappointing.

May 27

I think the most annoying part of working on an afghan is spending a lot of time for not a lot of progress.  I worked on this fir a good while and only managed to add two rows.  It's still crocheting up beautifully though.

April 13

Keeping going on the afghan.  It's still crocheting up into nice stripes.  I've gone through a full skein already, I'll probably have to go get more as it's not going very far.

April 4

Worked through the rest of the first skein of yarn.  I really like how this is working up.  Not much else to say.  I'm itching to sketch.  Maybe tomorrow.

March 31

A new yarn shop opened up near work.  This is a dangerous thing.  If you're near Rogers Park in Chicago check out http://squigglysyarnshopandstudio.com/.I got this gorgeous yarn without having a purpose for it, so I picked a pattern from one of my books because I was anxious to work with it.  It's crocheting up really nicely, almost striped.  It's a single-ply acrylic that is much softer than I'm used to acrylic being.  It's shaping up to be a really pretty afghan when it's done.

March 2

I decided to get out my crochet hook today.  I've made cup cozies for others, but not for myself.  This one is going to be mine.  It's made with single ply yarn and sized for a grande coffee cup..  It isn't finished yet.  I'm going to embroider a design on felt and then applique it on.  But not today.
